Thesis
High-income spending, travel, and home improvement support the large consumer brands outside Amazon and Tesla, and the sector benefits when rates ease and incomes grow.
Risks
Brent closed at $116.72 on 23 October, which squeezes fuel-sensitive spending. Higher mortgage and card rates hit big-ticket purchases, lower-income consumers are weak, and excluding Amazon and Tesla means it will not track XLY. Figures as of November 2026.
