Thesis
Power, not chips, is becoming the bottleneck. The EIA expects four straight years of rising US electricity demand, the strongest stretch since 2000, and GE Vernova’s backlog has reached about $163bn.
Risks
Load forecasts may be inflated, since developers shop projects to several utilities and projects often slip. Ratepayer backlash could push tech firms to fund their own generation. The merchant-generator sleeve adds power-price and rate risk. Figures as of November 2026.
