Real assets diversify an equity-and-bond portfolio: gold on central-bank demand, oil on a supply shock, copper and uranium on electrification and the power build-out.
Risks
The drivers diverge and can reverse. Oil is expected to swing to surplus in 2027, gold is sensitive to real yields and the dollar, and copper, platinum, and palladium follow the industrial cycle. USO’s futures roll can cause tracking drift. Figures as of November 2026.
